I picked up a new Nikon P6000 point and shoot today. I wanted something I could carry with me all the time and this fit the bill. This camera can shoot raw and has built in gps amongst other features. Here are a couple of images I took after picking it up from the shop.
The Torrens river in Adelaide was unexpectedly emptied the other day. I went for a walk down there and took some photos. I have started by posting a couple that focus on the grounded paddle boats. Will post more photos over the next few days.
I borrowed a Sigma 24-70 from a friend. I’m looking to buy it from him. These are some images I took while playing with it. In general I like it. The images are fairly sharp and look quite good. I have not done any real objective testing but am happy with what I have seen.
The autofocus has been less that stellar though. With the Canon image browser software you can see which auto focus points were active in an image and then compare it to the result. This lens was consistently off focus a little. As the light got lower the problem became more apparent. It really struggled to focus once it got a little dim. It’s a little noisy too.
So I guess I have to see how much he wants for it. If the price is good enough it will be worth it. If not I may ook at buying one new or perhaps buy the Canon 24-70L.
